Ghanaian footballer John Paintsil arrested for stabbing his wife in the eye

 

31 year old Black Stars of Ghana defender John Paintsil has been arrested for stabbing his wife in the eye.
According to Greater Accra Police, Paintsil stabbed his wife after a quarrel over money. The wife, Richlove Paintsil, jumped the wall of their home into their neighbors home to escape the assault. John allegedly followed her into the neighbours house and assaulted the people who tried to stop him from hitting his wife.
Paintsil was later picked up by the police after neighbours called them .He is being held for assault and causing harm.
Paintsil was part of the Ghana Black Stars team that came fourth in the just concluded AFCON 2013

A part-time Business Administration Student of Lagos State Polytechnic, Miss Olayinde Bournes, 22,  (pictured above) has allegedly been beaten to death by her boyfriend, Abuchi Cyril.The incident happened yesterday Thursday February 21 at Shorinmade Street, Aguda-Ogba area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

According to Miss Titilayo Fagbamila, friend of the deceased girl, she always complained to her that her boyfriend, Abuchi always beat her at the slightest provocation.She said that on Thursday when the tragedy occurred, Abuchi invited Olayinde to his house along Shorinmade Street, to see his travel documents. Titilayo said nobody knew what happened when the lovers were together but it is believed that they had a misunderstanding which may have led to a fight.Sources at 17, Muibi Street residence of the deceased told P.M.NEWS that  after the fight with her boyfriend, the victim was rushed to G&S Hospital where she was confirmed dead before the corpse was taken to Ikeja General Hospital for autopsy.Abuchi was immediately arrested and taken to Area 'G' Police Command, Ogba, for interrogation.When our correspondent visited Area 'G', Ogba, Friday morning, the suspect was seen writing his statement.When contacted for comment, the Area 'G' Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ishola Abdulahi, declined to speak on the issue, saying it  was too early as investigation was going on.Speaking with P.M.NEWS, the 55-year old father of  Olayinde, Mr. Akindele Bournes, said his daughter was not a troublesome person, adding that the government must ensure that justice is done.

An autopsy carried out at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital on Goldie has revealed that she died of hypertension. The autopsy was conducted on February 19th and signed by Dr. O. Oyewole, states that she had a “terminal hypertensive heart disease” which resulted in “intracerebellar haemorrhage “ which lead to her death.

Redeemer's University recalls 28 expelled students - students to face panel

 

In early February 2013, 28 students of the Redeemer University were expelled  by the university for allegedly failing drug tests. (See the story HERE)

According to new reports, following the controversy that trailed the expulsion, the University has rescinded its decision. They've written letters to the affected students and asked them to report to school and face a panel set up by the school to look into the the case. The students will get the opportunity to explain why they failed the test, after which the panel will make a decision about each student.

Darey's show last night was incredible. The best show I've seen in Nigeria...hands down. I wouldn't know how to describe it even if I tried. But here's something I can tell you for sure. The success of the show had nothing to do with Kim Kardashian. It was all Darey, his wife and Soul Music. Kim K was there for like two seconds and took the next flight back home. She appeared at the beginning of the show, said a few words and vamoosed. Some people who paid to see her didn't get the chance.

She did the red carpet for several minutes, joined us at the pre-dinner event for like 10/15 minutes, did the photo-up with guests for a few minutes, then appeared on stage at the beginning of the show for like 20 seconds. That was it! Hope they didn't pay her more than N2, 000...

60yr old man slaps 19 month old toddler on a plane in racist attack

 
A man has been accused of racially abusing then physically assaulting a 19-month-old child on a flight to Atlanta last Friday.
Joe Rickey Hundley, 60, allegedly demanded that the mother of the crying toddler 'shut that n****r baby up' before slapping the infant in the face on the Delta flight on February 8.
According to The Smoking Gun, Hundley has been charged with simple assault after the incident with Jessica Bennett, 33, and her son Jonah.

Bennett told authorities that her son 'started to cry due to the altitude change' as the service from Minneapolis to Atlanta prepared for landing. 

Ms Bennett and her adopted child shared a seat on their way to a family funeral while Mr Hundley was in the neighboring seat.
  Bennett said she was unable to stop the infant crying. A report compiled by FBI Agent Daron Cheney alleges that Hundley turned to the mother and used the racial slur in telling her to shut up the child.
As reported by The Smoking Gun, Hundley then 'turned around and slapped' the toddler in the face 'with an open hand, which caused the juvenile victim to scream even louder.' According to the mother, the slap 'caused a scratch below [the child’s] right eye.'
Hundley was charged with simple assault in federal court in Atlanta this week. If convicted the man faces a maximum of one year in prison.
The 60-year-old, who is the president of an aircraft parts manufacturer based in Idaho, denied slapping the child or using racial language. He claims that he did 'ask the mother to quiet the child.'

said he was traveling to Atlanta to visit a hospitalized relative, described his emotional state as 'distraught' and that he had one alcoholic drink on the aircraft.

However, Bennett told The Smoking Gun that she believed Hundley was intoxicated. The mother said that he 'reeked of alcohol', was 'stumbling around wasted' and he consumed several double vodkas during the flight.

Bennett says Hundley told her that Jonah was too big to be a 'lap baby.'
Agent Cheney added that Bennett received help from other passengers on the Delta flight. Todd Wooten, who was seated 12 rows ahead, told authorities that he 'heard derogatory language coming from the rear of the aircraft' and went to see what was going on. 


'According to Mr. Wooten,' Cheney wrote, 'he saw Joe Rickey Hundley strike' the child.
Hundley pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor assault in a Virginia court in 2007 after he was arrested following a quarrel with his girlfriend.

He was first charged with simple assault, carrying a concealed weapon, and public intoxication. Hundley told The Smoking Gun that the weapon he was allegedly carrying was a corkscrew.
