8-month old baby stabbed 90 times with scissors by his mother

                      
Eight months old Xiao Bao was stabbed 90 times in the face with scissors by his mother for biting her while she was breastfeeding him. The incident that has left many people shocked happened in Xuzhou, in the eastern China Jiangsu province. After the attack, the mother disappeared leaving the infant in a pool of his blood in the yard of their home. Xiao was found by his uncle who rushed him to the hospital. The baby needed more than 100 stitches. The mother, who has since been arrested, is not known to be suffering any kind of mental illness.

Al-Mustapha discharged and acquitted by Lagos Court of Appeal

             
The former Chief Security Officer to late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, was today discharged and acquitted by the Court of Appeal in Lagos for the murder of Kudirat Abiola.

The judgment overturns that of the Lagos High Court which convicted and sentenced the retired Major in January 2012 and sentenced him to death by hanging. The Court of Appeal, in their ruling, said there was not enough evidence to incriminate Al-Mustapha in the murder of Late Mrs Abiola.

Chief  MKO Abiola's wife was shot dead on June 4, 1996, on what was alleged to be the orders of Al-Mustapha.

Governors Are Importing Illegal Arms With Private Jets

The panache of Nigerian governors to purchase private jets has been allegedly used to smuggle arms into the country without adequate inspection.

This was the bold revelation made by the Director General, National Task force on Illegal Importation of Light Weapons and Small Arms, Osita Okereke, on Channels Television breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, where he stated that “they (governors) take private jets abroad, purchase arms and land in their state –no security man has right to search or search him because it is a governor’s item. You cannot stop, you cannot search them.”

Mr Okereke gave this remark over the availability of arms in Zamfara state which the state Governor plans to arm vigilante groups within the state, to address its insecurity.

Yobe State Shuts Down All Secondary Schools Following The Gruesome Murder Of Over 20 Students

                   

The Yobe state government yesterday has ordered the closure of all secondary schools after a massacre that saw suspected Islamist extremists kill over 20 students in a gun and bomb attack on a boarding school.

The governor directed that all secondary schools in the state be closed down from today, Monday 8th July 2013 until a new academic session begins in September.
